"How Can I Really Know God?"
1. God Loves You
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)
God made you and He loves you. He knows everything about you. He knows your past, your present, and your future. The Bible says that the thoughts that he thinks about you outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. The Bible says that every hair on your head is numbered. God knows you that well, and He rejoices over you with singing. The Bible clearly states that God is love, and that He is only good. He has a wonderful plan for your life.
2. All Have Sinned
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Sin separates us from God. Not one of us can stand before God and be considered righteous by our own actions or merit. All of us have made choices that contradict God's Word. Every single person is faced with the same dilemma: we have sinned against God's standard, and we are guilty. The Bible declares that the result of our sin is eternal death.
3. Jesus Died for You
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)
It is not God's desire for any person to die in their sin and spend eternity in Hell. Because of God's great love for us, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross. Jesus never sinned, but He voluntarily took upon Himself all of our sin, sickness, and death. He died as our substitute. He died in our place, taking the due punishment that should have been ours. But Jesus did not stay dead! Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. He broke the power of sin, death, and Hell. Now He offers His victorious life to you.
4. You Must Decide
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Every person has the choice to either accept or reject God's free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be made right with God or to have a relationship with Him. The Bible says that "everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). This promise is for you. Will you turn your back on sin and call upon Jesus to save you?
5. Invite Jesus Into Your Heart
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
To call upon Jesus and receive the free gift of salvation, simply pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Please come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus, thank you that you died for me. I believe that you are risen from the dead and that you’re coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God, and a boldness to share your love with people. I’m saved, I’m forgiven, I’m born again, and I’m on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart.
Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, all of your sins are forgiven. You are a child of God. You are saved, and He has made you brand new! The Bible says that "anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
